ANCHORAGE BARIATRICS

FOR A NEW BEGINNING

Vbloc

VBLOC® IS A NEW FDA APPROVED NEUROMETABOLIC THERAPY

HOW IS IT DONE?

vBloc® is performed using minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.
A pacemaker like device is placed under the skin with leads that go around the vagus nerves at your stomach.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY?

This is an outpatient surgery (you go home the same day). You should plan on being off work for about 1 week. There are no specific diet restrictions.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The pacemaker can be turned off and on to help block hunger signals from the brain to the stomach. It is reversible and the device can be removed at any time.

WHAT ARE THE RESULTS?

Average weight loss is about 28% of your excess weight at 1 year when the device is on 12 hours a day.

WHAT ARE THE COMPLICATIONS?

As with any surgery there are risks. However, we have taken great steps to minimize these before and after surgery. You will learn a lot more about this in the office.

DO I QUALIFY?

The current criteria for vBloc® is that you must have a BMI 40-45, or a BMI of 35 – 39.9 with a health related condition such as: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnea, or diabetes.
