Anchorage Bariatrics, Alaska’s leading bariatric clinic, announced that we have entered into an in-network contract with Aetna, one of Alaska’s – and the nation’s – largest health insurance providers. Effective February 1, Alaskans covered by Aetna insurance could see a significant reduction in out-of-pocket costs when receiving care at Anchorage Bariatrics.

“We are pleased to make things a little easier for Alaskans who are struggling to lose excess weight. Now, patients covered by Aetna can choose Anchorage Bariatrics for their care instead of being told they have to see other providers who may not be their first choice, or being told they have to travel out of state, as often happens,” said Kristi Naval, RN and Practice Manager at Anchorage Bariatrics.

“Aetna and Anchorage Bariatrics will now work together to not only save bariatric patients money, but to also keep the focus on the patient’s health – for both the short and long term,” she added.

Aetna has been providing insurance services for over 150 years and provides approximately 22 million Americans with health insurance.

Simple Ways You Can Invest in Your Health

1.  Educate yourself on what’s good and what’s bad for your health.
> Do you need to lose weight?
> Do you practice a healthy lifestyle including a balanced diet and moderate exercise?
> Do you have medical conditions that need to be managed?
> What is your intake of food that is healthy vs food that is not healthy
2.  Eat healthy (take everything in moderation)
>  less salt, less sugar
3.  Exercise!
4.  Get enough sleep! (This is sooooo important!)
5.  Be happy! (This one happens naturally when the above are being worked on!)

Easy Yummy, Healthy Snack Idea!

Celery sticks with cream cheese

Celery sticks with cream cheese are a classic low-carb snack.

Celery contains luteolin, an antioxidant that reduces inflammation and may also help prevent cancer.

Adding cream cheese turns the celery sticks into a delicious and satisfying snack.

Five small celery sticks with 2 oz (60 grams) of cream cheese contain less than 200 calories.
