You can get books about weight loss. You can buy exercise videos. You can try different types of diets. But the one thing all of these is missing, is YOU. You are unique, so shouldn’t your weight loss plan be unique, too?

So many of us have tried everything under the sun to no avail. The problem just might be that your body isn’t responding to the program you’re attempting because it is not the right one for you. At Anchorage Bariatrics, we treat each patient as an individual, with individual needs, likes and dislikes. That’s why we offer so many surgical and non-surgical options, because we want to help you find the right solution to get you where you want to be.

From medication assisted weight loss, to customized diet plans designed by our in-house Clinical Dietitian, to New Directions meal plans, we’ve got you covered with the products, education and training you need to make choosing healthy options easier. We also have exercise plans and guidance on changing your lifestyle and habits. In addition, we offer the non-invasive Orbera gastric balloon and many other surgical options.

Please call or email us today so we can tailor a plan that’s right for YOU!

Cycling

You never forget how to ride a bike, right? Well, in Alaska in the winter, biking becomes a bit trickier. If you love being outdoors and aren’t afraid of a little chill, cycling just might be the exercise for you! Just be careful of icy conditions. Here’s a short list of biking clubs in Anchorage. Doesn’t sound like your cup of tea? Try a cycling class at a gym or cycle bar. Check out Anchorage Yoga & Cycle or Alaska Fitness – they all love first-timers!

Red Beets

Red Beets: Beets offer lots of folate, which is an important nutrient for pregnant women, preventing birth defects. The rest of us benefit from it too, as it spurs red-blood-cell growth. And the color? That’s a sign that it fights cancer and lowers the risk of heart disease. Roasted beets are a simple and flavorful side dish. Add a dash of goat cheese for an even richer taste.
